1080 Pixels to Inches
How many inches is 1080 pixels? It depends on the pixel density. At 300 PPI, 1080 px = 3.6 inches; at 96 PPI it is 11.25 inches.
1080 px ÷ 300 PPI = 3.6 in (9.144 cm)
1080 px ÷ 150 PPI = 7.2 in · 1080 px ÷ 96 = 11.25 CSS in

Which print sizes can 1080 pixels cover?
If 1080 pixels spans one edge of a print, the density on that edge is 1080 ÷ edge length. Compare the result with your provider’s requirement; the bands below are reference points, not a sharpness rating.
| Print edge | Density (PPI) | Band |

1920 × 1080 pixels in inches
1080 pixels is one side of a 1920 × 1080 frame. The whole frame measures:
| Density | Width × height (in) | Width × height (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 72 PPI | 26.67 × 15 | 67.7 × 38.1 |
| 96 PPI | 20 × 11.25 | 50.8 × 28.6 |
| 150 PPI | 12.8 × 7.2 | 32.5 × 18.3 |
| 240 PPI | 8 × 4.5 | 20.3 × 11.4 |
| 300 PPI | 6.4 × 3.6 | 16.3 × 9.1 |

Where 1080 pixels comes up
1080 pixels is the height of a 1920 × 1080 (Full HD, 1080p) frame and the width of a vertical 1080 × 1920 frame, the standard size for phone stories and reels. At 300 PPI it spans 3.6 inches.
Social media exports are often 1080 pixels wide: a square 1080 × 1080 post, a 1080 × 1350 portrait post or a 1080 × 1920 story. Printing one of those gives at most 3.6 inches at 300 PPI or 4.5 inches at 240 PPI. For a 4 × 6 print, find the original camera file instead of the downloaded post.
The formula
inches = 1080 px ÷ PPI
A pixel count has no physical size until you choose a density. Image PPI is a print instruction; CSS uses its own fixed ratio of 96 CSS px per CSS inch, which is not a measurement of your monitor.
Questions about this conversion
How many inches is 1080 pixels at 300 DPI?
1080 ÷ 300 = 3.6 inches, or 9.144 cm. Print briefs often say DPI when they mean image pixels per inch (PPI).
How wide is 1080 pixels on a web page?
In CSS, 96 px equals one CSS inch, so 1080 CSS px = 11.25 CSS inches. That is a layout unit; the physical width on a particular screen depends on its own pixel density and scaling.
What density do 1080 pixels give across 5 inches?
1080 ÷ 5 = 216 PPI. A higher number means more image pixels per printed inch; it does not by itself measure sharpness.
