8×10 Print Size in Pixels
An 8 × 10 inch print needs 2400 × 3000 pixels at 300 PPI. It measures 20.32 × 25.4 cm and has a 4:5 aspect ratio.
8 × 10 in at 300 PPI: 2400 × 3000 px (7.2 MP)
At 240 PPI: 1920 × 2400 px · at 150 PPI: 1200 × 1500 px
8×10 in pixels at each density
Multiply each inch dimension by the density. The results are exact because both sides are whole inches.
| Density | Portrait | Landscape | Megapixels |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150 PPI | 1200 × 1500 | 1500 × 1200 | 1.8 |
| 200 PPI | 1600 × 2000 | 2000 × 1600 | 3.2 |
| 240 PPI | 1920 × 2400 | 2400 × 1920 | 4.6 |
| 300 PPI | 2400 × 3000 | 3000 × 2400 | 7.2 |

Nearest-pixel rounding can fall slightly below the target on one axis. Use Round up when the target is a strict minimum.
This is the canvas size. Changing a file’s PPI metadata alone does not create these pixels.

Will my photo fit 8×10 without cropping?
8 × 10 inches is a standard frame and portrait size. Its 4:5 proportion is much squarer than 3:2, so a full camera frame loses a noticeable strip on the long edge.
| Example source | Cropped pixels | Image kept | Density at 10 × 8 in |

How many megapixels does a 8×10 print need?
At 300 PPI the print needs 7.2 megapixels after any crop; at 240 PPI, 4.6 MP; at 150 PPI, 1.8 MP. These are arithmetic targets, not a promise of print quality: focus, noise and viewing distance matter too.
Changing an image’s PPI setting without resampling only changes its intended print size. Read what changing DPI actually does before upsizing a file.
